The Cork English College Research Team One Year Anniversary

After a successful year of research and conference presentations, the CEC Research
Team is looking forward to developing their 2018 – 2019 project plans. But first, a look
back at a rewarding year:
As part of the UNESCO Conference on Learning Cities and the Cork Lifelong Learning
Festival, the CEC Research Team presented a workshop in September 2017 on
Project-based learning in a variety of educational and social contexts as a way of
promoting learning communities.
In February 2018, The team gave a talk at the 4th annual ELT Ireland Conference in
Dublin. They presented the results of their action research into PBL across CEFR levels
A2 to C1. This research was also published on the Irish Research Scheme for Teaching
Blog in conjunction with Trinity College London.
Then, in early April, two members of the Cork English College Research Team attended
the 2018 International IATEFL Conference and Exhibition in Brighton, UK. The team
was invited to participate in the Forum on Projects and Project-Based Learning.
Later in April, the team represented CEC at the EAQUALS Conference in Prague,
Czech Republic. They gave a workshop designed to help language teachers and
academic staff design their own plans for running PBL sessions.
The team is excited about the prospect of continuing and expanding their work and
promoting a culture of continuing professional development at Cork English College.
